FAQ
Answers to the questions we get asked most.
Products
What materials can Lösning end mills machine?
Our solid carbide end mills are designed for steel (up to HRC 65), stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, composites, and plastics. Coating selection matters: AITiN for steels and stainless, ZrN or uncoated for aluminium and non-ferrous materials.
What is the shank tolerance on your end mills?
All Lösning end mills are ground to h6 shank tolerance per ISO 286-1. This ensures consistent grip in standard ER collets and hydraulic chucks without re-indicating.
How do I choose between AITiN and TiSiN coatings?
AITiN is the all-round choice — excellent for steels, stainless, and hardened materials up to 900 °C. TiSiN offers higher thermal resistance (1,100 °C) and is preferred for high-speed dry cutting and cast iron. If in doubt, AITiN is the right starting point for most steel applications.
Do you offer custom tooling or special geometries?
Yes. For orders above a minimum quantity we can produce custom geometries, lengths, and coatings. Contact us via the Request a Quote page with your specification and we will respond within one business day.
Are your inserts compatible with standard toolholders?
Our carbide inserts are ground to ISO standard geometries (CCMT, DCMT, TCMT, etc.) and are compatible with any standard ISO toolholder accepting those insert styles. If you are unsure, share your holder details with us and we will confirm compatibility.
